In Suriname we speak Dutch but very down to earth, In the Netherlands I speak Dutch like an upper class Dutch, I do not have an accent from the south although I have lived for 10 years in Breda. In the USA my husband as one of the best voice overs in the US, has thought me to speak proper American English not with any accent. I mean in school they thought us Oxford English, but please do not go around in the usa talking like that if your not from England. I does make a difference if you have an accent, people judge you and label you immediately. While it opens doors for you if you speak the proper language without an accent. In Suriname the really appreciate it if you speak normal down to earth dutch to them or Sranang tango aka Taki Taki
